  • Posts, messages, comments, photos, videos, and reactions you share through the platform

d. Device & Technical Information

  • Device ID
  • Operating system and version
  • Crash reports, performance logs, and diagnostic data
  • Usage data and analytics (e.g. navigation, clicks, engagement patterns)

e. Planned Future Data

  • Payment and billing data (to support upcoming paid features)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use this information to:

  • Create and manage your Places account
  • Enable communication and collaboration within communities
  • Operate, maintain, and improve our platform
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues
  • Monitor usage and performance
  • Communicate updates, support messages, and important notices
  • Prepare for future billing and payment functionality

We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Where possible, we use aggregated or anonymised data to analyse usage trends and improve features.

For users located outside Australia (including in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom), our legal bases for processing personal data may include:

Your data may be stored in Australia or overseas, depending on where our subprocessors operate.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access - including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and continuous monitoring.

6. Retention of Information

We keep your information for as long as necessary to operate Places, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

We may retain limited metadata (such as usage logs) for operational and audit purposes.

7. Account Access & Deletion

During the current testing phase, only invited users (from participating communities) can access Places.

Users cannot yet delete their own accounts directly but may request deletion or anonymisation at any time by emailing support@places.cc.

Once Places launches publicly, account self-deletion and privacy settings will be available in-app.

8. Cookies & Analytics

The Places website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site and to improve functionality.

In the app, analytics and crash data (via Posthog and Sentry) help us monitor performance and stability.

You can adjust your browser settings to manage or block cookies.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. These may include the right to:

  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict how your data is processed
